Anyone can put up a blog. Their FB page has 130 likes, which is well behind important things in life like lolcats and people who believe little green men are running the country (no, I did not check).

Tucson Police Officers WILL BE present at the Walk to ensure safety, and Animal Control will be present to escort any unruly visitors off the property and confiscate any Pit Bulls or Other Dangerous Dogs
Except Tucson does not have BSL so....

That's what I said. Infact, Tucson is over run with Pit Bulls.
No kidding. lol

Why don't they just have a walk for victims of dog bites? Are some dog bites more worthy than others?

This is just more evidence that the certain brand of crazy that Arizona sometimes produces is really whoa.

I'm confused because the listing of children attacked (which is very sad) includes a baby who was KILLED by the family's retriever?

And then there's another area at the bottom for "statistic of dangerous dog bites" which says Presa Canario is another name for Bullmastiff?

There's also a picture of the fence through which the FOUR YEAR OLD playing outside being supervised by a SEVEN YEAR OLD was mauled. It says 8 dogs were behind the fence...none of them in the picture are pit bulls. I suppose it's possible there were two random pit bulls, but I'm kind of doubting it.

But this is Tucson! Land of the animal shelter that labels ANYTHING with a smooth coat as a pit bull. Including the pure bred neo, bloodhound, and black and tan coonhound.

Longer coated dogs are all shepherd mixes. Unless they have drop ears. They they're pit mixes.

Of course! Pitties leave worse bites because they lock their jaws and attack for no reason. I read it on their website.

Oh my, I could just feel the brain cells evacuating my skull after typing that.

Yes...I was reading that too. Uh...yes it's horrible the kid was mauled. Yes I feel badly for the kid. But..
The frisbee landed just outside the neighbor's inadequate fence, and when Levi reached down to pick it up, two dogs reached their heads through the fence and grabbed Levi by the face, trying to pull him through the fence.
How is the fence inadequate if the dogs didn't even escape? The child (or it's body parts) went into the fence? How is this even the dog's fault? That even looks like a wide open yard, enough to see a dog coming at you. If it was a burglar going into the yard, the dog would be a hero.

What get's me about the letter from Saleena's mom, is that she said she use to raise American Pit Bull terriers and has had over 51 dogs over the years. I'm assuming none of them ever went mean if she had so many of them in her home for so long. 51 plus dogs, and one, years later, attacks. That should tell you something.

Yes, but didn't you read? The attack was completely unprovoked. It was totally unpredictable. NO ONE SAW IT COMING. The dog was probably totally relaxed right before it attacked, just like that yellow lab that latched onto Cesar Milan's arm was!

I mean really the kids probably should have known not to go near there. But if a dog can fit it's head out far enough to grab someone I don't really consider that adequate fencing.

I don't think it's wrong to have a walk for "dog attack victims". Sometimes i do feel like the focus goes onto defending the dog ("he was spooked! Provoked! Protecting xyz!") more than the victim, so i guess thats a walk-worthy cause... But to specifically call out pit bulls? I wish they could get their point across without discriminating. I'd like to see what kind of pro-pit bull turnout they might get. Maybe it will start a riot!

That's how I feel.

And a fence that dogs could maul someone through doesn't sound adequate for those dogs. If I had a dog that territorial I'd have a very strong, tall, solid fence.

I'd also go out of the way to forge a friendship between the neighbor kids and dog, for the protection of both. The zois are about as un-territorial as it can get, but you never know. The kids in the neighborhood all know them and have been introduced. The dogs love them. They look weird so there's always a temptation to mess with them or tease them. This way my dogs don't get teased and nobody gets bit and my dogs don't become reactive.

That was probably just your brain swelling and causing you to "turn."

I guess my coworker who needed two surgeries after a Cocker Spaniel bit her several times in the face. After all Cocker Spaniels aren't "Dangerous Dogs," right?

This sounds like one of the crazy Craven Desires minions. That blog is nuts. Somehow I came onto their radar and one commenter said that I should be killed as well as my dogs and my body set on fire. Seriously nutso.

If this group REALLY wants to help victims of dog bites (I say this as someone who had 20 some stitches after being biten in the face as a kid and still bares the scars), then education of adults, kids, and dog owners as well as across the board animal control laws that punish people who let their dogs run loose, etc, is a far better way to do so. But I suppose effectiveness may not be what they are actually going for here...

I agree that having a walk for dog bite victims is cool, because yes, there does need to be more awareness on how to prevent things like this. Keep your dogs contained in your yard and always on a leash and in control, never leave a dog alone with small children, never pet a strange dog without the owner's permission, etc. But that's not what this is about at all. This is nothing more than a giant Pit Bull hating event.
