Ok this person claims to rescue mutt mixes and unwanted litters. So what does it make her if she is breeding mutt mixes?

Apparently she is doing such a good thing breeding these mutt mixes. Wonder if they are being sold as rescues as well or if they are being sold as her mutt mixes; created to add to the overpopulation of mutts.

That is really strange... why add more mixed breed dogs to the overpopulation of pets? Really, some people drive me nuts! It seems like a lot of people who breed "designer breeds" are involved in rescue... maybe trying to clean their consciences?! It's pretty hypocritical of them.

Oh puleease don't start another vendetta against a well-meaning stranger - this time, no less, a retired couple who run a rescue service, and who just occasionally breed their own Pomeranians and even more rarely a Newfie cross. http://pic4.piczo.com/dogrescue/?g=11330367&cr=4

Surely if there are all these evil puppy mills out there, you could at least pick on one of those instead of nice old Grandma Jones who does far more good than harm.

Please people, don't 'feed' this thread.

It sounds like you do not believe that there are puppy mills... I got that from the sarcasm.

Taking in unwanted litters is very admirable and I can respect that.

The part that knocks me for a loop is the breeding of the mutt mixes.

I just have never ever heard of a rescue doing that.

I am by no means picking on this person as I only saw the ad for rescued pups in the Ottawa Citizen and had a look at the website.

There are a couple of ads in there that lead me to think puppy mill, this is not one of them. I think this person is really truely trying to help! I just don't get the breeding part is all.

With all of the mixed breeds out there (they are rescuing, they should see that), they should not be adding to the overpopulation of pets by breeding more mixes. It's very strange how they are doing that.

Edit- the newf that she breeds is a newf mix. So these are golden-newf-random mix puppies.

This I do not know. I was just going off the website!

If I start quoting all the sites this thread will be jammed but it was the rescue part that caught me. At first I thought wow great a person truely trying to help and I still believe that. I just was worried about the breeding part.

Delisay,

I sincerely hope that you don't intend to start going around defending unethical breeding practices all over this forum. Just because someone is a "nice person" or "somebody's gramma" doesn't excuse the fact that they are not doing what is in the best interest of their animals. It doesn't make it okay for them to produce puppies from parents that haven't had health tests or been proven. Please, learn about ethics. Check out the following websites:

I just assumed this Delisay knew this person!

I don't really have much time to read all the threads here.

I do not want to take away from the rescuing part as that is important. I am not ranting about that part at all. Thumbs Up!

Strictly ranting about the breeding mixes part. I am not even complaining about the Pom breeding, {are they tested or even registered?}

I'm not defending anyone but I am not trashing anyone either. Just wondering what others thought or if it was just me that was worried about that part.

Well I really do not know too much about Grandma Jones and her being so nice! The thing is there are enough doggies out there already. So what is the purpose and the ryme to all the madness. It's assured that it is about money, or she would not be doing it.

So by your comment; Grandma Jones the nice old lady, what about the grandpa jones that are a holes? Just curious?

I have a hard time with all of this! Why? Well when you take the time to breed for a reason: to breed for a purpose and then have a hard time selling and or placing these dogs well bred dogs due to these WING NUTS WHO ACT AS A RESCUE< THEN AT THE SAME TIME OVER PROCESS AND BREED MIXES THEN WE REALLY HAVE A PROBLEM. I WILL STATE I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE JONES, I AM TALKING ABOUT EVERYONE! THAT BREEDS FOR HE DOLLAR SIGN AND NOT FOR A TRUE PURPOSE. HAPPY HEALTHY DOGS FOR HAPPY HEALTHY FAMILIES. I SAID MY PEACE AND THATS AS FAR AS I AM GOING WITH THIS ONE.
