Cool 8 week old yorkie

my wife and i have an 8 week old male yorkshire terrier...and im self-employed as a web developer, so i spend a majority of my day with him. This is my first puppy, and i havent really been around dogs much, so im at a loss on a few issues....

1) He likes to bite my hands, feet, whatever....whats the best way to punish this and let him know that this isnt acceptable?

2) he pees...like everywhere....we tryed dog litter, but that wasnt too successful..and now we have the training pads...which he goes on like 1 out of every 15 times

3) when we put him in his kennel, he will yelp and cry like crazy...will this pass?

4) would it be bad of me to put him in his kennel while i try to work, and let him out for like an hour at noon...and then like at 5 or 6 when my wife gets home?

He hasnt gotten neutered yet....but when we do neuter him...will that calm down some of his craziness? i dunno...he's just been a handfull...and its getting progressively more frustrating

thanks for any help

kasey

wow, thanks for taking the time to help me out......i'll try to keep in mind that he's a puppy on a lot of things....and as my wife puts it "at least he pees just a puddle, not a lake "

he was a product of his mother's first litter, so evidently, she wasnt the best mom, thus, why we have him so early....will this lead to problems later?

one of the wierd challenges for us is that we are waiting for our new house to be built, and right now, i still live in a townhome with 3 other roomates and neighbors on the other side of our bedroom wall (where the dog is)...we arent supposed to have pets here unless you pay a $300+ deposit...but our house will be done in 2 months or so...seems silly to pay that much for such a short time....so i dont want the neighbors to hear him and rat us out....so its interesting..i know hes a puppy and he's gonna whimper...but at the same time....well....hopefully you can see my cunundrum

kasey

anyone else have any tips for such a young pup? when can i expect to see him get 'better'?

First things first utilize your crate they are a great tool and letting your baby "cry" it out is not going to hurt him and you should pay your deposit for pets that way the worry won't hinder his social developments definatly puppy kindergaten is a great class to get him enrolled in and don't stop there continue on with his learning remember dogs are pack animals and they want to be told what to do when where and how and they usually become confused if you don't become the alpha dog I have seen so many people let their dogs become the leader and it always turns out to be a mess in the end and ususally the dog ends up at a shelter or rescue because their owner didn't have the knowledge or tools to deal with their dog as for the peeing using his crate will help try crating him for an hour or two no longer then let your pup outside and when you do command "go pee" or somthing to that nature always take him to the same spot make sure he does and if he don't put him back in his crate and start over until when you do take him out he relives him self when you guys come in let him be free for like a half an hour and slowly incease the time you let him play and be free then crate him again and start all over this works for adult dogs and pups if you are not taking him out and keeping him in take him to the wee pads or the litter which ever you are going to use but a word of advice once you have started the indoor elimination habit it maybe hard to break if you ever want him to go outside

i think that the key to keeping my sanity will be just biding my time for the next month or two until our new house is done...he'll have plenty o' room to play in there its a little un-nerving having him in the same room with you all day long!

i love the puppy...but cant wait to have a dog
