Unhappy cut pad

my puppy cut two pads on glass yesterday and needed surgery and stitches. the vet said the pad never heals together properly. anybody got any advice on how to care for it once the stitches and the dressings are removed.

I've never heard that pads don't heal properly. None of my dogs has ever needed stitches on their pads, but they've cut them pretty deeply and I've just loaded them up with Neosporin ointment and kept them corralled and somewhat quiet for a few days to keep them from jumping around too much, giving the cuts a chance to begin to heal properly.
