Unhappy Weird behavior in St Bernard-help

Greetings,
My Simon is behaving weird today, and I am going to put in a call to the vet- but would like to know what you think.
Last night, Simon threw up around 5pm. It wasn't a lot, but is was clearly his breakfast. He ate his meal just fine last night, with great excitement and zeal!

He eats at 630-7am and once again at 630-7pm. He ALWAYS finishes his meal and we have not changed the food, or amount at all.

He is drinking his water well, and pees and poops fine.

This morning, I made his breakfast and he didn't follow me around waiting to eat, he just sat and watched me.

When I put the food on the floor, he just sat about 5 ft away. I had to encourage him to come eat. Then he only ate about 4 bites and walked away.
Now he is upstairs napping with my husband- at 8am (very unusual as he would be playing with the kids by now)

These things changed yesterday- we are no longer crating him- he is just too big, but now I have encorporated a "quiet time/space" in his routine, just to give him a break from the kids and the chaos. Around lunchtime, I keep the kids downstairs and put him in our bedroom for this.

I don't know if this has anything to do with this but I thought I would throw it in there.
Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Do you think he could have eaten something else? Did the kids maybe feed him some food? I'm confused too.

anything is possible at this point. He is known for chewing on things, that;s for sure!
I called the vet and they suggested I withhold food for about 24 hrs to see if his tummy settles down. They think he has a sour stomach because aside from eating, his poop and pee are fine.
the kids know not to feed him, and he is never alone with them.
I'll keep watching.

Not eating was a red flag with my Chip . I'd go to the vet .

Did he spend a lot of time in his crate? He may be stressed out that his "den" is no longer available. Our pups had a few days of acting strange when we rearranged their gated area in the kitchen. They wouldn't eat, and were withdrawn. They perked up after 2 days, though.

Hope your guy get better!

Well, he actually hated going into the crate, so the change was sort of good, but he still doesn't like being separated from the kids. He wimpers when he is put upstairs. So he isn't there very long. I let him know it is safe by giving him a treat when ge goes and petting him as he lays on his pillow.

Today he has 1 cup of dry food with a 1/2 cup of warm water and yogurt. He ate it all- and had a big solid poop about 2 hrs later. He is thirsty and I am letting him drink as much as he wants- but have to be on him so he doesn't pee everywhere!!!!!

Last night, we all had dinner around 6pm, and he went into the basement and slept ALL night, without moving until about 5am. He did go pee at one time, but then returned to his spot to sleep.

I think it was an upset tummy.

I forgot to mention this- about 2 days after he returned from the vet from his neutering- he started coughing. He has since stopped but it lasted for about 10 days. Apparently, if it was kennel cough, ( I didn't call the vet about that) there really is no treatment other than rest. Maybe this was the tail end of the cough. He did get vaxed against it, but it can still appear.
Thanks for your help and well wishes!
