Default my 2 yr old sheltie has bladder infection again what can i do ?

i feed her timberwolf organics black forest, plus i make my own chicken broth and feed her every day. i took a urine sample in and she has it again, it was just suppose to be a follow up to make sure she was okay. the vet called said she had a bunch of white blood cells again in urine. they were closing so have to go in morning to get medicine. she doesnt act like she has it, so must just be starting. is there some kind of a supplement i can give her so she doesnt get this often , like cranberry powder ??? if someone can give me any ideas ill ask my vet tommarrow if it would be okay thanks alot for any help

Check into Apple Cidar Vinegar.

You can mix a teaspoon in her food, and the acidic value works better than cranberry juice (and it's cheaper) PLUS........it has many other beneficial effects as well.

Here is one of MANY links you can find to read more about it

how long has it been since her last one? did she have a urine sample checked after the antibiotics were finished to make sure it was completely gone?

I would ask the vet to do a culture and make sure the correct antibiotic is being prescribed. Once you know you have the correct one, just before she finishes the prescription, take her back in to make sure the infection completely gone before stopping the antibiotics.

Cranberry actually helps prevent the bacteria from the infection from adhering to the urinary walls. It's always a good idea, for comfort of the patient if nothing else, to give cranberry. Giving cranberry on a regular basis can be helpful as well.

Aside from that, have her PH checked when the infection is cleared and make sure she's within normal range. You may have to switch foods - I would suggest something grain free like Timberwolf's Wild and Natural.

yes i just came from vet, she has white bl0od cells in urine, no cyrstals. we are on 2 wks of antibiotics. i give them another sample of urine when we only have 2 days left. this is the 2nd time in 3 mths she has had it. we did a urine culture when done last time
and it was okay. my vet said maybe shes getting to close to ground when she goes, and her opening is a little bigger, so bacteria gets in there. i asked for some cranberry pills, got some from vet that are for dogs. iam going to start her on that and give her forever if it help. thanks everyonee for your information.
