Aww there are beautiful dogs there!
Just be aware that if you go with a good breeder, you will probably be on a waiting list for months. It's totally worth it to get a healthy puppy with a good temperament though... but the wait can be long. And I agree, stay away from bad breeders that don't do health/temperament testings on the parents other than vet checks.
But yeah if you want a dog very soon the shelter is your best bet. Have you checked
www.petfinder.com? You might want to check rescues in your area also, they will be able to help you find what you are looking for. Personally though, I find adult/young dogs much much easier than puppies.
