Default The last two days...

Argh, I'm getting totally obsessed with my new puppy. I just can't take my mind off it, lol! Saying that I'm looking forward to it is putting it mildly... It was different for Boris because we didn't exactly think about it much, we kinda just went and got him, then I had to spend hours and hours on Internet reading about dogs as it was my first one... Really bad, I know, but this waiting is so hard that it was much better for me

I keep looking as his picture online and telling myself that I will see him in 2 days... It's going to be great too, they are bringing the dogs from Virginia to the volunteer's house where the future owners will go and pick up the dogs. There will be 12 dogs and puppies there, so I volunteered to help them with the paperwork etc... It just won't be before Saturday at 6pm if the people who are driving the dogs up are not late. I'm really looking forward to seeing them all, just a little worried that he won't get along with Boris nor the cats. Although at 2 months I don't think it should be a problem. I'm also worried that I will fall in love with another non spoken for puppy and want to bring it home too

The problem is, we just know he is 'medium' size, so it's hard to buy stuff for him, but we don't have the choice because by the time we are done there on Saturday, the stores will be closed. So we're going to have to pick up another crate, play pen, collar, leash and bowl before we go, and hope it's the right size...

Is it always that stressful to get another dog?

It's from a rescue, all of them come from different litters except 6 (3 and 3 I think).

I'm curious though, why do you think it's not good to take two pups from the same litter?

What kind of puppy are you getting, Fran? Are you getting a boy or a girl? I am getting excited with you!

Yeah, I was wondering also. What's wrong with that?

My understanding is they tend to stick together a bit TOO much and can be very difficult to deal with. We had to resist the temptation to get Kharma's brother, Oliver . . .

That is the SWEETEST looking puppy that I have EVER seen. The only thing that I would think you would have to worry about is his food, the rest of the stuff you can always get the next day. I had our puppy in a cat carrier for three days (she still goes in there from time to time even though she can't fit anymore). the leash and collar you can always buy the next day (as well as the kennel). If you have anything that you can use as a makeshift kennel for the night that is. If not go and try to find a kennel that has a divider so that (s)he can grow with the cage.

He's cute isn't he?

Yes definitely going to look for one with a divider, although we have big plastic boxes we used for Boris in his crate, and it worked pretty well. For the food, we will probably use the same as Boris'... It's for puppies that grow over 50 lbs, and I'm pretty sure that he will reach that, if not I will get something else on Sunday. We could put him in a cat carrier the first night though, I'm just not sure he wouldn't be too tight - no idea how big he is,
