Default pit bull?

Since it's not a breed this is difficult, is this a "pit bull"? What I mean is if there was a pit bull ban would this dog be targeted? I know bull terriers are some times targeted as a pit bull but English bull dogs usually are not. Of course there is no proof of what he really is so...

Looks more like a JRT mix to me. I would think any BSL Nazi would be crazy to go after this little guy

I would say JRT mix too. She does look a little bully to me. I really don't see bull terrier in her though. I don't think she would have any problem with BSL. I think maybe English Bulldog and JRT. Its hard to tell though

It would depend on the wording of the legislation and if anybody ever called and complained about the "Pit Bull" next door. Substantial similarities/characteristics is enough to get a dog labeled as a banned breed.

So I would say YES, it's definitely a possibility that this would be considered a banned dog.

Nice looking dog though

I agree, with everyone else here. Yes, if you are somewhere that is targeted by BSL, that dog could be in danger of being mistaken for a "Pit Bull". It is really unfortunate because to me that dog looks more like a JRT than anything.

i have to agree with the yes's
that dog has enough of a "bully look" to possibly get dragged into the BSL category of "pit bull"

I agree with DryCreek. In most BSL cases, it is worded as such any dog that fits 1 or more of the characteristics that they government says makes up a "pit bull", then that dog will be affected.

However, I don't think the dog pictured is an [E]B mix or a BT mix. I think someone at the shelter just didn't want to say possible "pit bull mix".

Although I do agree that I see more terrier in that dog than bull.

Well, I would say that I do definately see the Bulldog in the head and the stance of the dog along with the JRT looks of the nose and face. I would say that if you are worried about this dog being mistaken for a pit bull then I would take several pictures of the dog to the city. I would go to the office where you get dog licenses and explain to them the breed that the dog is and see if they will issue a license for that dog. this will save you time and effort if you are worried about getting caught up in a breed ban issue. I would hate to see you take home a dog like this and then have to face getting rid of him as he is one beautiful dog.
