Default Problem with cockleburs

I just got a new puppy, he's a 4month old Great Pyrenees mix and an adorable little fluffball. His coat is such a terrible upkeep and I have to groom him every day, not that it gets tangled, it picks up unwanted debris. Cockleburs to be exact, the huge disk-like ones and the tiny green ball-shaped ones that hide deeper in his coat. No matter how well I groom him, the next day he comes back nearly covered with them again. But I don't know where he's picking them up from and I can't keep the little guy inside all day.

I do have two other dogs but they're short-hair and have very sleek coats so they don't have this problem.

Help someone, please.

They can be a mess !!! My Goldens were a real problem . I ended up getting a shredder comb ....really sharp blades .

I like to take my dogs hiking during the summer, especially Jack. And since he is a show dog, I have to be able to get burrs out without taking a ton of hair with it. So, one time I was talking to my dad about burrs and he suggested using a set of pliers to get the burrs out. Surprisingly it WORKS.

All I had to do was squeeze the burr with the pliers to break it and it brushed straight out. I also use Cowboy Magic along with the pliers. The amount of hair that comes with it is close to the amount of hair that would come with a mat the same size.

I do this also, so I don't have to worry about having to brush burrs out of all of his hair, just the hair on his legs and butt.

Thanks for the suggestions. When I get enough free time, I'm going to take a close look around the yard to see if he's getting them from here, then try to section off the yard for him and my other two.
