My name is Emily I know a lot about dogs.
How old is your Hamster?
If he/she is only young then I suggest that you move the cage upstairs out of reach from the dog and you always shut the door behind you whether he is out on a walk or not because this way he/she will get used to not going in that room. I dont think that the hamster will get particually bothered by the dog if it is a little dog but if it is a big dog then I would go with the "not allowed in the room" approach.

Well, at least you can fill yourself up with information so that when you're older, you can pick the perfect dog for you and take the best care of it you can.
