i know this isnt for MY dog its for a family dog LOL. my mom got a 8 lb. havanese this summer and shes finally full grown so i was goign to buy her a good harness and leash for xmas

Charlie is 7-8lbs. I think I might need to get a medium. I have never seen them in stores in Canada, so I might be stuck buying online and having to guess at the size.

darkchild, this style harness would work perfect for long or short haired, (or medium for that matter)

and just to clear up the reaosn for using a harness on a small breed is not "so you dont have to train them to heal" toy breeds especially are prone to trechea problems and cautions should be used when walking. my guys walk to heal perfectly and are 100% harness walked 100% of the time. there have been a few times where ive had to quickly remove my chi from a dangerous situation (my female assumes ALL dogs and People love her no matter what) and a harness especially one like this with a wide chest makes it much safer to just quickly pull her away wihtout damaging her neck, my male got spooked on one of our walks when a very large dog came bounding at him (off leash and growling) and he bolted had he been walking on a collar he would have done some serious neck/trechea damage to himself.

so i do agree to teaching ANY dog to walk properly on a leash but i also suggest to anyone with a toy breed to walk them on a harness to be safe. a harness is NO excuse for lack of leash manners.

i also dont EVER have my dogs loose in the car, they are always clipped in, clip a dog into the car via its collar and stop suddenly you have a dog with a broken neck. these harnesses are PERFECT because their wider chested so provide extra support for the car!

In my pictures, Rylie (in the green harness) weighs 3.5lbs and is in an XS. Madison (in the blue) is wearing a size small and weighs 6.6lbs. Chloe (the white one with the blue harness) is wearing an XS in that pic, but at the time weighed about 4lbs. She is 5lbs now and wears a size small.

I think that size smalls would fit your dogs fine. They adjust a good bit, and the small is still loose even on my 6.6lb chi.
