Good people, but breeding there dogs, question

We meet these people because we went to pick up something
we ordered at there residence.

Well they where extremely nice, very much love dogs! Charlie
was with me and they went crazy over him.

They have at least 4 dogs, shih tzus (maybe 5, it was hard to tell because
they rotated them through the rooms)

The first thing they asked my fiance about charlie was "Is he
fixed?" I was not in the room at the time, thankfully he is fixed
and I did not have to jump that hoop..

Well they have two females who are both in heat, which they
are planning on breeding If that was not bad enough.
Well the one female is supposedly a shih tzu, but it's pretty
clear she is a mix of some sort (even the owner indicated
she thought this) Not only that but she has a serious
defect, a huge under bite and over bite as well. This is not
the type of dog that anyone should be breeding!

So what do you say to good people who are doing something
so irresponsible and against what you believe in?

People like that I don't think you CAN say anything to. They will just let everything go in one ear and out the other.

mmm. i guess you just have to explain to them why its a bad idea to breed. they'll either ignore it if their ignorant. or suddenly relise what they might have done

Start a friendly conversation about the right way to breed and the wrong way to breed.

Go to PetFinder.com and look up the breed statistics for Shih Tzu, and show them how many are in need of rescue, pointing out that they don't need to produce more.

Print out the Shih Tzu national parent club's Code of Ethics and give it to them.

Print out sites about responsible breeding vs backyard breeding, give it to them.

Research the breed specific genetic defects and make them aware.

The problem is they are still strangers to us. We are also trying to open a business and this is more business than personal at this point. So I didn't say anything to jerpardize that

They really where nice people and even took the time to ask about the food I was feeding charlie because they had learned that many food brands where not good for there dogs. (they had never heard of Innova, but its a start)

As you said . it's a start . BTW... a dog can have an over bite or an under bite . If she had both , it would be normal bite !!

If they are willing to learn about dog food I don't see why they wouldn't be willing to learn about breeding. I wold do what summitview said. print out some information on breeding and give it to them. Just say something like "Since you are planning on breeding your dogs I thought you could use some information on breeding." If you are nice and polite they are more likely to want to listen. Then again they might not.

I could not think of another way to describe it, shes like deformed I guess would be a better way to say it Very strange snout.
