Default Am I making a mistake?

I have a 2 year old adopted dog that I have had for about 6 weeks. She is settled in on Natural Balance Dry food with a small amount of the canned mixed with the dry which disappears in a couple of minutes. In the last couple of days I have given her some very small left over pieces of meat from my dinner like chicken and turkey which she vacuums up. Am I making a mistake in doing this and should I leave well enough alone, or is this OK. Her table manners npw are excellent and I can eat my dinner in the living room watching TV, and she never makes any attempt to get at my plate. I don't want to start something that I will regret.

I don't see any problem giving a few tidbits from the table at all.. I do it all the time.. but I don't actually do it 'from the table.'
I wait till I'm done eating and put it in their dishes..

I do that also. I just make it a rule to give it after I'm done eating, and when they're not actively begging (although Tips doesn't beg much).

Squid is right.

It is ok, as long as you put it in their dish and after your done eating.

Giving scraps from the table right off your plate is where the trouble starts.

Good Luck

I agree with the above. Put it in their dish during their mealtime or after you are done eating.

Thanks everyone, and that is basically what I am doing. I wait until I finish eating and then put it in her dish.

Yup what you're doing is fine. Meat is great for the dog, just make sure it isn't too seasoned, you don't want an upset stomache. They can handle almost all we can.
Also if you give her a little bit in her dish after you have FINISHED eating, it reinforces her place in the pack...she doesn't get to eat until the "leader" YOU are done with it.

I usually give it to my guys OFF my plate, because they lick it clean and it's less scrubbing for me! ROFL

Some dogs are picky so if you start to notice her eating less of HER food and waiting for yours I may cut back or quit all together.
