Exclamation Horrible Whining

I have a 8 week old german shepherd puppy who cries at the highest pitch and loud as she can unless she is literally touching me. What can I do to make her stop? I can't constantly touch her, but the whining is like a drill into my brain? Help!!!!!!

Did you just get her? If you did she is just missing her mom and bothers and sisters and is in a new place and does not know what is going to happen but at least she knows that she can trust you and that you love her and she loves you since she will only stop when you are holding her! Now this part might be hard to deal with for the first hour or two but it will get better, she cannot cry 24/7. When she cries you need to lesve her in her crate and completely ignore her till she stops then you can let her out and praise TONS with treat and belly rubs happy voises ect!!!!!!

And earplugs. German Shepherds are VERY vocal dogs, so while you're learning to understand what she's trying to tell you . . .

Welcome to the world of German Shepherds, . Ignore it is all I can say. Do NOT pet her when she whines because you are enforcing the behavior, rather than eliminating it.

I second all of the above.

One more thing: Try putting her in her crate and staying very close to it (keep it close to your bed at night), and then gradually move it farther and farther away. That way she won't think being in the crate is a bad thing at all and she will know she has your security.
