If I were to start making my dog homemade food that I found a GREAT recipe for, how do I know how much to feed him? He is 42 pounds, and the recipe doesn't give a guideline as to how much to feed. If anybody knows or has any guidelines for me any input would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Does the recipe give you a calorie count? That's the best way to tell.

You'd analyze the recipe for its nutrient content and go from there. It must also meet all the nutrient requirements your dog has, so don't just go feeding an unproven recipe.

It is a very good recipe given to me from somebody who made it and had it approved by a nutritionalist, so it is a proven recipe. I did not find it on the internet, and the provider asked for a "payment" of donating some money to a local research foundation. Unfortunately I don't have contact with him anymore so I can't ask for guidelines from him and also there is no calorie count provided.
