I was looking at pups for sale and they are all atleast over 1,000 all the way to the 4,000 dollar mark. Just wondering why that is? Hard to breed or something?

From what I have read and been told by breeders, the Bulldog breeds are more difficult to breed and there are some big expenses inherent. Evidently the females aren't terribly energetic pushers during labor either, so on top of all the screenings you have to do for so many of the possible health problems in the parents, ceasarian section deliveries are an expense routinely incurred. They also typically have small litters as well, driving the cost of each surviving pup up considerably.

Also, a dog who has a C-section will sometimes reject her pups because she doesn't think she's given birth. With so few pups in a litter anyway, they can die of neglect if the owner isn't paying close attention.
