The stray with the broken leg is still wondering around the apartment complex. It breaks my heart to still see him. Fortunately, this time I had moist dog food since I was teaching Bailey "attention". I threw a couple of peices toward him and walked away. Later, I went back and they were still there! The poor guy didn't take them.
He was still there, also. Everytime I see him, he sits and looks at me, he seems like such a good dog. We look at each other and I can see his suffering and pain but I don't know what to do, other then trying to give him food. I am afraid for my well being and the well being of my puppy, but I really want to do something.I called the humane society and the pound. Apparently, I have to bring him in. I am afraid to try to get the dog in my car, since he does show some fear toward me when I come close and I am aware this fear could lead to aggression. What do I do???

Poor fellow! Are any of the neighbors willing to help win his trust, or even take him in?
Maybe one of the area vets might have an idea.

poor guy!!
The only thing I could think of is to just sit near him, at a distance he is comfortable with, and call him or throw some food and wait for him to come to you. That might take a while and it doesn't sound like he is in good shape. The not eating food worries me. Sorry I don't have any other suggestions and I understand you concern about getting him in your car. The worst thing would probably be to corner him and try to grab him. Hope you can find a way to help him. |

Thanks for your support and understanding. It is a really difficult situation and I hope I can think of something to help him before it's too late. I really don't know our neighbors very well, but I don't think any of them would be willing to take him in. I just feel awful about this whole thing.
