Cottage Cheese?

Does anyone feed their dog cottage cheese, I have heard of some people putting abit of the dry dog food, does anyone do that and is there any benefit?

cottage cheese is a low lactose high protein source that is arguably good for dogs. I know a lot of people on the pitbull forums at www.game-dog.com highly advocate it. I have tried it with my dog, but he shows NO interest in it! On the other hand, a raw egg mixed in with the kibble is awesome, in HIS opinion!

Cottage cheese is good, but cultured yogurt is better.

I often give Visa cottage cheese. It has bacterial culture and can help dogs with gas.

I make my dogs a mixture of steamed white rice, low-fat cottage cheese, and boiled (skin removed) chicken (chopped tiny) when they have upset belly's and they love it. I usually only have to give it to them for a few days and then they are back to normal.

i also read in 2 books and various websites that cottage cheese is good for the dog. my dog likes it but only when i give it to him with a spoon, if i put it in his bowl he ignores it

When my Ridgeback got really sick last year from some unknown disease and lost 25lbs, I had to feed all day to get weight on her. One of the things I fed her was cottage cheese. I mixed it with rice and boilded chicken. I still give her a little bit in her dog food every now and then. If you feed them Innova, look at the ingredients. Cottage cheese is one of them. Canned Salmon is also very good.

Sorry but is cottage cheese the same as cheddar cheese - eg. Kraft cheese, those that comes in slices.

Can't seem to find cottage cheese per se. or do they come in a round piece??

Cottage cheese is like a mild cheese curd. They normally come in little tub containers. I usually find it in the dairy section where they also sell sour cream, yogurt and milk. My dogs love it!

Hi Giny, thanks for the tip! No wonder i can't seem to find them cos i was looking at all the wrong places.
