Default If you could...

clone any of your dogs to keep them living "forever" would you? And would you keep them the same?

I've said it before and I actually mean it... if I could clone my Buddy Boy to have him with me forever and ever, I would. A wise person asked me, "but how would you clone a soul?" and I had no answer to that. But if I could have this dog with me for the rest of my life, I'd do it. He's taught me so much and has helped me grow so much, that I can't imagine my life without him. And even though Buddy is my heart dog, the same would apply to the other B's.. if I could have them forever, I would.

/sappy moment

Now.. if you could go back and do it all over again.. had the same choices and made the same decisions.. about this dog or that dog... would you?

I know I would. Knowing what I know now... Buddy's constant health problems, the money, the work, the worry.. I would do it all over again just to have him in my life. The same would apply to Bella and Banzai, as well, thankfully their health problems don't even measure to Buddy's... *goes to find some wood to knock on*

This is really clever
"Dogs are our link to paradise. They do not know jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing wasn't boring, it was peace."

Bodhi is the opposite of ignorance, the insight into reality which destroys mental afflictions and brings peace.

No. I know enough about cloning to know that the cloned off spring doesn't necessarily have the same personality/act like the original.

I know it is spam but still, interesting topic .

If there was some way to have them forever and ever, well yes. Would I "clone" a dog with our current science technologies, just replicating the physical characteristics.. NO. It's not the same dog, and I would have a really hard time looking at the cloned dog and being sad all the time about the previous dog.

Having a dog that looked exactly like mine without acting like it would be heartbreaking. Like losing a loved one and having to hang out with their identical twin sort of lol

Not to mention I could think of better ways to spend my money

A clone of Zoe wouldn't BE Zoe, which would be weird and creepy and heartbreaking. So no. Never. Plus, she has terrible structure and joint issues and temperament issues.

If I could get a redo, I would in a second. I think I could change the course of her temperament issues if I started where I am now with knowledge rather than ignorance and inexperience, and I think a late spay would help with some of the joint issues.

But no cloning. Just time travel with current knowledge.

If I could change something as little as the colour, I would consider cloning.

Not that I have an issue with Cobain's colours in the least, but as others have mentioned cloning doesn't produce a dog with the same personality. Or with the same life experiences. I don't think I could handle a 100% identical looking dog that didn't have the same personality.

However, something I love about Cobain is his temperament and structure. Both of which could be reproduced within a clone.

Oz, 12 year old Beagle
Cobain, 9 year old Border Collie
Rigby, unknown aged Kelpiemutt
Ruby SoHo, 3 year old Jackmongrel
