Default Superficial reasons you aren't into certain breeds?

Just curious if anyone else has ever gone "yeah, that could be a good breed for me, except [some superficial/weird/silly reason]"

I've been thinking about this lately because I keep telling myself that I should look into Samoyeds and that they could be a good match for me, but then I think "do I really want a dog that cute? A dog that always looks happy?"

And then I think about how they all sort of look alike (except with varying levels of poofiness) and the clone factor sort of weirds me out.

(no offense to samoyeds, dogs that always look happy, and breeds where the dogs all look alike!)

Dogs with droopy eyes. They make my eyes water in sympathy. Hmm maybe that isn't too superficial, who wants watery eyes?

Dogs with curly coats. I just don't enjoy petting curly hair. Weird, I know.

I think looks play a huge role into why people pick specific breeds.

I love the temperaments of a lot of different breeds but want a particular look (upright ears, short coat) and size (20lbs). If there were more breeds that met those perimeters I would have had a more difficult time choosing.

I chose a Vizsla over other breeds because I find them stunning.. granted, they fit my world really well but they certainly aren't the only breed I could live they just happen to be the best looking

I just really like color and marking options, haha. I have a hard time looking much into breeds where individuals are solid colored. Even if they come in a few solid colors, I want patterns darnit!

It's kind of petty.

I also have this thing too. It sucks because I like poodles. but their coat texture weirds me out.

ETA: I also really like floofy dogs. I like the feel of longhaired dogs better. And I just plain like the pretty hair.

And tails. I like tails.

Meanwhile I'm all 'I prefer if you gather 20, you instantly have no way of knowing which one is yours so might get home with a surprise dog!'

There's quite a few breeds I won't have because they're too popular here

Generally, I like dogs that look fast, sleek, and solid. So...

Some breeds have too much fur/fur is too long. This honestly irritates me, because there are SO MANY DOGS I want, but then I'm like, "ugh. Fur. Too much fur. I think I'll just stick to Roxie."

Some look too much like barrels (Bull Terriers, anyone?). I like fast looking dogs with large ribcages, generally. Whippets, Greys, Boxers, etc.

Sloppy looking backs. A LOT of GSDs drive me nuts. I only know a few that I'd want. I like the breed, but so many just look sloppy.

I am picky about coats. ANY sort of beard and it's a no go, absolutely not. I just walked Phoebe (shih tzu) and then she drank a bunch of water and jumped up on the couch next to me. Then her wet beard touched me and I gagged and made her move over. Just can't. I can barely take Tucker's coat because stuff stick in it...leaves, twigs, etc.

Drool is the same deal. I know people who carry drool rags to wipe their dog's face. No way.

I don't really want a lab or golden because of how popular they are. It's stupid I know. I have other reasons for not liking labs now, goldens would still probably be a decent match, but the popularity thing (not just numbers but because people love them so much) is a turn off for me. It's like if he's super well behaved and nice people are going to assume it's because he's a golden not because I put a lot of work in. And that will bother me. It's a bad reason to avoid a breed, but I can't get over it.
