Gavroche was neutered before I got him.

Logan will not be neutered, and if his breeder ever requires me to sterilize him (unlikely), I'll probably opt for vasectomy.

Most of the people I know IRL neuter because "Ewww, balls are gross!"

Honestly? Penny was spayed because I didn't want to deal with heat. I know, I suck at being a cool dog owner.

Luce came spayed from the shelter. She was a year-ish old.

Steve was neutered at 19 months because he was cryptorchid and because he and Mushroom were having pissing wars in my house.

Hambone was neutered at.... I guess he's somewhere around a year and a half? because he was marking everywhere in my house and I just couldn't deal.

Bean is intact and will remain so until he gives me reason to neuter him. He's the most socially appropriate dog I own, and he's the one with the testosterone. Go figure.

Pip and Maisy were altered before I got them. Squash had a neuter clause in his contract. I might have been able to get out of if I'd felt really strongly about it, but I didn't.

Both of mine were spayed at 6 months...

I'll admit to being very spooked by keeping an entire female - my childhood dog died from complications arising from cancer of the uterus. She had been entire her whole life and never had a litter. She was a purebred GSP and my parents had intended to breed from her if the right male came up (yes, we could've been BYBs) but as it happened they never went through with there plans for a number of reasons, namely they didn't want the responsibility of a litter. Unfortunately, she died because we never had her altered. :-(

My family was devastated and didn't want a repeat of that experience, so we had Grace desexed at 6 months. Abby was done at 7 months actually.

In the future, I would leave altering a dog until they were fully grown and I would not alter a male unless I had a good reason.

Georgie is not spayed yet but I'm hoping we'll be able to do it soon. Honestly it's just annoying to deal with, and when you've got an agility dog, if she's in season, she can't compete, so... double annoying.

Pepper isn't spayed and I don't get to make the call on that one. If it were up to me she would be spayed, because I don't want to breed her, but her co-owner might so in it all stays. Again, it's annoying to deal with. Also Payton is really obnoxious around her when she's in season so it would make my life way easier. Luckily she's not an agility dog so I don't have to worry about missing trials and all that, but still. Annoying.

Auggie was neutered because he was on a contract to be neutered and also because he was cryptorchid.

P still has balls.

Kaylee - spayed at 5 yrs old for convenience. Seasons got in the way of lure coursing events and training. I hated taking 2 months off every year.

Talla - spayed at 2 yrs old because she got terrible false pregnancies all the tie.

Poison - will probably spay her after she's finished and has had a litter or two (pending health testing and titles, yadda yadda yadda) for the same reasons I spayed Kaylee.

Tabby - not neutering the dude!

Kimma was spayed at 6 months because that's what I thought you were supposed to do (so like Linds said). I regret it every day because we do so much in agility and she obviously wasn't done growing when I had her spayed. Though I will say that not having to worry about her being in season for a training class/trial has been great.

The others are all intact.

Kim
What actually happened: Spayed at ~6 months, because the veterinarian said so.
What I wished happened: Spayed, but later

Webster
What actually happened:-- Neutered, because he was going under for other things anyway and was already fully grown and it seems like the right thing to do.
What I wished happened: I'm fine with this. If zeutering had been available at the time, that probably would have been ideal.
