Barbara, my mom is still like that too. She gives me advice all the time because she can't help herself. But now I think she realizes I'm going to carry on being crunchy mama and ignore what she says. I just listen to her out of respect and then tell her what I intend to do. She hates that we bed share, baby wear, EBF, delay solids, refuse physical discipline...

MM-- Everleigh started trying to crawl yesterday too. Booooo! I'm definitely not in a hurry for this. I like knowing she will be exactly where I've put her when I come back from switching laundry or doing dishes.

Cali-- my hair, nails and skin were awful during pregnancy. Skin especially. I look at pictures now from the very end of my pregnancy and I'm horrified. I treated myself to regular manis/pedis.

I am going to have to start putting my hair in a ponytail every day (not exactly professional, but kind of a necessity) just to prevent my clothes from being covered in blonde hair
Can you do a braid? More professional and it'll help hide the shedding. The only thing I got the best of when I was prego was the hair. My hair is baby fine and pretty thin and I had super gorgeous thick hair. Until 4 months after I had Falon and then it ALL fell out. And now I have a bajillion baby hairs growing out.

It's pretty much a crapshoot for what you're going to get. I hated being pregnant despite the fabulous hair. The prize at the end is worth it though.

Nico is growing up way too fast. Yesterday he decided he was ready for multiple different things. First he can now take 2-3 steps without falling. And he also can now climb up on all the furniture. So now my living room looks like a crash zone with toys AND cushions all over the place. lol We put all the couch/chair cushions on the floor in front of the furniture so when he falls off or rolls off it is on to the cushions. He is so proud of himself.

Barbara, this is where I do my research. It isn't parent reviews, but the state inspections etc. I got a good idea as to how well my daycare was staying up with standards etc etc. Every place is going to have issues of some sort at some point but it gives you an idea of the nature. I check ours regularly and we do not have issues often. We do have self reported incidents every now and then, but it makes me happy to know that if there is some sort of foul play it is reported immediately and taken care of appropriately within the company. thankfully those don't happen often either. Otherwise, I think you have to go with your gutt and follow your instincts. Ours seems a little cold and sterile in some respects, but honestly, with all of the daycares I have visited, in some ways I was more drawn to that because the place also seemed much cleaner to me. I have never gotten that feeling from the teachers. They are the ones I stay in constant contact with and provide all the love my kids get during the day.

Speaking of blw, Lilly went to grab a piece of pizza off a plate today. I think as soon as she's sitting well on her own we'll start offering her some foods. (Unless it's less than a month before that happens) She still gags on EVERYTHING though, so I'm assuming she won't actually ingest anything for a while.

We're also thinking of offering her first food at thanksgiving dinner. She'll be 5.5 months then.

Katie didn't eat anything solid until like 8 or more months old. I cant remember exactly. She gagged on everything. Things happen on their own time.

We are definitely going to hold off until 6 months at least. Maybe longer if I can fend off her grandparents. Dh thinks she's ready because she watches us or reaches for things. She also watches us brush our teeth and reaches for anything we're holding so I'm not taking it as a cue. She doesn't seem more interested in food than she is anything else.

However, I think she's getting two more bottom teeth and with thanksgiving this weekend, I know my inlaws are going to want to give her food. I don't want to have to stab anyone with my fork.

Also, I wish she'd slow the heck down on the teething. These ones are making her fussy and pukey.

Yeaaaaaah, Falon does those things too, but she still makes horrible faces and spits whatever you've put in her mouth back out. We put things on her highchair and she picks them up and squashes them and throws them to the dogs....but they very rarely make it all the way to her mouth. And she's got two months on Everleigh.

I've been referring people (*cough*MYMOM*cough*) to the KellyMom stuff. A friend of mine put it best I think, "You'll know she's ready when she snatches something off your plate and devours it." Lol.

LOL. "What the devil is wrong with this thing?" All babies have a British accent in my head.
