I've had 3 purebred dogs, a Dachshund, a Beagle, and a Lab, the Lab and Dach were pretty much as expected, but the Beagle, Farfel, was something else. He was a field type, not the dainty kind I see now almost exclusively, but a 38 pound "tough guy". His first vet called him, "The Screamer", as he made all kinds of noises that would start as soon as he walked in the door. The second called him "The Scrapper" for his habit of getting into fights with bigger and younger dogs, often in his waiting room. If a dog tried to push him around, he was ready to go.
Not a cuddler at all, he stiffened up if you held him, but he loved to play tug of war, and to wrestle. His constant yelling made him a non-favorite dog in every neighborhood I lived in.

Buddy is a loving, friendly wuss. Josefina is ... well ... I don't really how I would explain her actions with strangers, no one has tried to pet her (everyone thinks she is a coy dog ) but I imagine if someone she would duck away and give them this "what the **** are you doing?!" look LOL. But she has NO herding instinct at. all. prey drive yes, but put her in front of stock and as soon as they come towards her she runs LOL.

Izze was your typical ACD (IMHO) she was touch, she was a one person dog, and she was a working machine.

Watson is a pretty typical Welsh Springer Spaniel. He's medium-high energy, impulsive, fun loving, happy, velcro, and cuddly. He has pretty high prey drive and loves to track and hunt.

His only trait that isn't typical is his love of strangers. Welsh should be reserved with strangers, and some incline towards shy. Watson loves every one and is the opposite of reserved.
