Default windows 8 users?

has anyone been able to get rid of the forced updates? I'm trying to work on something I'd really kind to finish today but mz lovely laptop feels need to fail at updating and take ages to configure! I do not have half an hour or more every other day to restart my laptop esp. if I have on say in when the update happens! :@

Sorry, no advice here. But I will be avoiding windows 8 like the plague.

I had to help a friend load a program that makes your desktop/menus look like windows 7 because she was unable to use her laptop. After playing around on it for a couple of hours I decided I would not support windows 8.

Irony like the tile-setup either :/ I will be sticking with windows 7 for as long as I can ... thanks or until they come out with a new windows that is the same config as all the other window have been.

Major fail Microsoft ... It wasn't broke ... You shouldn't have tried to "fix" it :P

I have used Windows 8, once used to it it's not too bad, but it is really designed for touch screens, otherwise it's less then friendly.

I was able to change it yesterday! Thankfully. -.- It updated itself for OVER AN HOUR.

Other than that it's not too bad IMO. I still have my normal desktop, just not the start button. There's an update coming out though (Windows 8.1) that has a start button again and is free for all windows 8 users.

I was forced into a Windows 8 laptop when my old Windows Vista laptop finally died after 6 years.

I've been using it now for 5 months and I still greatly dislike it but I'm used to it, the only thing I can actually say I 'like' is the new search system.

Updates about 2 weeks ago broke my Win8. Going back to 7 as I have the disk.

Shut off the automatic updates in the control panel and one word: ClassicShell. I use it on all my windows 8 machines. I also uninstall all the apps in the start screen.
