Default Teaching 'speak'

I have always taught my dogs to speak on command easily but then again... they were shelties.

Mia is incredibly barky so you'd think this would be easy. I have been marking her barking. She yaps when she's frustrated so it's fairly easy to get her to make noises. As I am marking them, she stops barking.... She switches over to just doing a silent bark essentially? She will look at me and move her mouth like she's barking but won't actually make any noise. Which is cute and all but not a 'speak'. Haha

It's the weirdest thing...

Maybe it's because it's so emotional (from frustration) that she's not really thinking about it. So it's sort of like if you reward a dog while growling it won't make them growl more because you changed the emotion. At least she seems to be trying lol.
