Default How to teach a dog to go tee-tee outside in possibly one day!

Well, only if you have a really smart dog, , but it IS possible! My grandmama hung a bell on a string by her door and taught the dog to ring a bell. We tried it with our aussies with a great result.

Bell, a black tri Aussie, was added to our family at the age of 8 weeks, On day one, we played in the house, then proceeded to take her out back. Just as we were about to open the back door, we took her little fuzzy paw, and had her ring a low hanging cow bell. Then the door opened and out she went to tee-tee.

She came in, took a nap in her crate, woke up, and proceeded to walk to the bell, ring it, sit down and wait for us to open the door.

That was it. One time, first day home and she was trained. Not a single accident.

Meet Sassy, a 12 week red tri Aussie. Sassy was older, but after showing her four times that the door only opened after a ring, she never had an accident and always rang the bell to go out. Even if she was in trouble .....she would ruuuun to the back door, ring the bell, and wait for us to open the door so she could escape from the coming punishment, LOL!

Then there was Annie Fannie. She took 4 days, bless her heart, but that was it. Always a ring, even to go out and enjoy the day.

The bell is such a great tool. We even take it to our vacation house or my parent's.

A good hardware store should have a bell.
