Harlow had the same symptoms a few months ago, and it did end up being kennel cough...
Vibes that it is super easy to diagnose and treat and that Cricket feels better soon!

Problem is that if she does have kennel cough I have to figure out how I'm going to handle days I go to work since my work is too far away for me to easily leave her home. Don't really feel comfortable with the landlords taking care of her so I may have to see if my mother inlaw would be willing to come by during the day to take her out for a potty break if it is kennel cough. |

Is there any way to keep her isolated? If she's on meds, I would think after a day or so, she wouldn't be contagious anymore.

We are heading to her vet apt now. Going to be early, but I'm a bit antsy to get her checked out. |

We've had a crazy kennel cough thing going around our area for the last month or more. One vet finally took it upon himself to run cultures because it was so bad, and it is apparently actually a form of influenza.
I hope she feels better soon!

Lots and lots of (((((((((((((((((VIBES))))))))))))) sent!
Do you think she could have a hairball? Emma eats hair, and it's awful... she goes around licking the floors. We have to give her hairball pills every day, otherwise she'll spend quite a bit of time trying to get a hairball up once it's built up

it's canine influenza
![]() The vet was worried about it being influenza because he said he has seen a surprisingly high number of cases this year compared to recent years. So... he did a chest radio-something or another, blood tests, swabbed her mouth and nose etc... He said I actually caught it really early luckily and also thankfully she doesn't have any secondary complications right now such as pneumonia... he said that's where it can get super serious and he said she is one of the better cases he has seen this year probably because I brought her in before it got real bad. Right now she is on some meds that should hopefully ease her coughing some, help her sleep at night and help her fight this off. I have to go back in two weeks for a follow up, unless it seems to get worse then they obviously want to see her right away. |

Just saw the thread! I saw your text and couldn't find where the thread was!
So even though we already talked, I'm just glad you figured out what was wrong! I hope she feels better REAL soon because Jackson and I can't wait to see her!

I'll let you know when the vet clears her to return to normal life lol. Then we can set up a play date. He said at the minimum to wait about 2 weeks. She has an appointment in 2 weeks so he'll let me know then if she can be cleared to have some Jackson time.

Poor Cricket. I hope she feels better soon! It's terrible when they're sick, for them and us. :-(
