We had something like a keurig for a while - only that here you can only make coffee with it. It was also like 2,89€ for 10 capsuls.
If I buy half a kilo of ground coffee for 4€ (and thats fairtrade and organic O.O) I can get waaayyy more cups out of that.We use this exact one now. - The coffeepads (pods?) are still expensive if you compair - but it tastes better! WOW. These are really expensive in the US. We payed 50€ O.o http://www.amazon.com/Senseo-Single-.../dp/B001QTVS5K

With multiple people in the house that drink coffee at different times and have our own flavors we like a Keurig really pays off.

Ever since having a Keurig, I seldom buy my coffee at a coffee shop (I like kcups better) so I've actually saved money since we've got it.
Off topic, if I ever get the math wrong on these random questions, I will be humiliated.

I have to also add that once you get a routine down, a press takes literally 30 seconds.... I have an electric kettle that I fill before I get in the shower, turn that on and it will boil my water for me and then auto-shut off. Get out of shower, scoop grinds into press, pour water in, wander off to get dressed and comb my hair, come back after 5-7 minutes (recommended brew time), depress plunger and pour cup. Done. Probably each "step" is maybe 10 seconds of hitting switches or plugging things in or pouring things.
I will NEVER go back to drip machine Edited to add: Press was $28, glass and metal. I buy Starbucks Blonde roast from Sbux locations because its recommended, and I find I like better, the coarsest roast settings for a press, so I buy their whole beans and have them grind it for me. Small bag is usually $15, and lasts me two weeks, and I drink approx 20-24oz of coffee a day, so if you drink less your would spend even less. if I did the math right just now its approx 40 cents per 8oz cup, and thats with the most expensive snobbish bag of beans on the market. if you drank something else it would be even cheaper |

We have a Keurig at work. At home I have a press that I used to use, but honest to god I've come to adore percolator coffee of all things. I think I have positive associations with it from camping.

Back to my regular coffee maker since I can't find doodle squat for my Tassimo anymore. Kinda p.o.'d about that. I've contemplated getting a Keurig, but the coffee tastes weak to me...seems like it's more coffee water than anything. But I've got to do something. I am keeping my eye on the new Keurig that brews more like the Tassimo does, but I'm waiting to see if it catches on, as I don't want to invest in anything to be stuck with a single selection of coffee.
When I'm feeling especially sentimental, ill break out my great grandpa's old coffee maker thing I put on the stove. I can't remember what it's called, but it's from the early 1900's and made of aluminum. Despite it tasting more like "cowboy coffee", it brings back memories for me.
