Ok, I had to go WAY outside of my comfort zone for this one. And I am SO HAPPY. I'm thrilled with these. I will post three. My artist was chosen by Jason because I wanted to use Kastle and I know no artists. William Wegman is who I am mimicking.

I really like Amanda Jones' studio stuff, but I don't have enough lighting to pull it off.

I had a hard time finding shots I liked that I could actually do with background/lighting. It was SUPER hard. I have one (extremely shitty flash, it only fires about 1/4 times) light and no backdrops. My shots are on a dog blanket that is propped up on Kastle's pen in the basement...best I could do!

If I have time I'll take a new photo, but my photographer professor several years ago said this one reminded him of a specific photographer. I forget his name, but maybe if I post the picture someone will know who he was talking about.

This.. So much this. I seriously wish I could find it again. I think of that photo often actually because it reminded me so much of Zuma's expressions at the time and still does.

Okay, got some new pics today, so I'm replacing one of my earlier photos. Robert Vavra is my inspiration.

This week I attempted to shoot in the style of Traer Scott's Street Dogs. I thought I had my head wrapped around the characteristics of the image I wanted to explore but after going through my images, I discovered that there was some things missing. I may attempt to reshoot this with a higher aperture setting because I feel that detail and texture is lacking from my attempt. Hopefully I get another shot! In the mean time, here is my first attempt.
Having a dark dog against a dark background was difficult as was finding a background that had the texture I wanted. At first I thought that the emotion shown by the dog was the most important thing but now I realize that it's so much more than that. The texture of the image, the lighting, the contrast between the dog and the backdrop are all huge characteristics. ![]() Week3 by ZooomDog Photography, on Flickr Shutter speed 1/250 Aperture f/2.8 ISO 100 Here is Traer Scott's image from "Street Dogs" http://www.traerscott.com/portfolios/street-dogs
