Unhappy Cricks in the neck

Does anyone have any suggestions for alleviating them? I've had this one for three days now and it still hurts a lot. It has improved slightly since I first woke up with it, but I am really wishing it would just go away once and for all. I have been living on tylenol so I can still work, applying warm/cold alternately, run hot showers on it, and I even had my mom massage my neck/shoulder while I was at dinner with them tonight (which really helped, but only temporarily).

Anyone got any quick fixes? Pain management advice? Anything? It's just so annoying to be in pain all the time.

Depends on if you have a pinched nerve or if you have injured something. I have a birth defect in the upper vertebra, and c 4 and c 5 have been fractured in the past and it went untrearted, so they wore wrong and now I have pretty bad arthritis in my neck. There is an exercise that a physical theraipist taught me that has been the only thing that has brought me any relief for even a short period of time. If you have nerve pain, this will make no difference.

place your chin down toward your chest until you feel the muscles begin to pull , don't bob you neck, but slowly evenly stretch those muscles, and hold for a few seconds. Then tilt your head so that the top is heading toward the floor and your chin is heading toward the ceiling until you feel the msucles begin to stretch on the side, slowly and evenly, if it hurts don't go there, but a good stretch you will feel and hold for a few seconds. Push the back of your head as if you were pushing into a pillow, pointing your chin down..stretch hold and go to the other side and repeat. I have to do this several times a day. Hope you find some relief.

Can you see a chiropractor? My chiro is probably one of my favorite people on the planet. I don't go often but when I need him I NEED him. It also depends what you mean by "crick". Is it a muscle spasm? Pulled muscle? Or something with the spine? If there's any swelling, arnica will help

Oh and ibuprofen will help more than Tylenol if its inflamed.

It is pain in the back of my neck and my right shoulder/shoulder blade. I'm not sure what it is, Wednesday night I was fine when I went to bed, and Thursday morning I woke up with all this pain.

Unfortunately, I can't take Ibuprophen, my dr. advised me against taking NSAIDS because of all my stomach issues. If I could take it I'd be all over it!

tmj can do that to you too, but it sounds more like you just slept wrong.

You could try something topical, like Aspercream or something similar.

OMG! Does the pain start in the shoulder blade then shoot up your neck? And hurt worse when you try to touch your chin to your chest?

Going to the gym and doing lightweight lat pull downs always helped when I had a shoulder/neck cramp or pain. Also, rubbing bengay or tigerbalm into the area could help.
