That's why I don't use food, you don't know how the dog will react to food & food can cause probs with all the dogs present, what if he is FA? You just don't know, even the friendliest dogs can be FA.

If I saw the dog coming I would block the dog from getting to mine, even if I had to take some of the roughing up in the process, FYI wrap last isn't "pepper spray" persay as in now as intense, just mildly irritating but it isn't dangerous.

I have met lots of labs who are like this, not to insult good dog with good owners, but there are a lot of ill bred dogs & bad owners that give the breed a bad name like the OP's landlord.

I had a couple of bosses/landlords who were inconsiderate with their dogs or to dogs in general, notice I am not there anymore.

Also wrap last is NOT "pepper spray" & yes I would if I thought my dogs were getting hurt but I don't get a chance to because I have dogs who are quick to out an obnoxious dog (without harming them) in their place quick.

On the subject of Wrap Last, It isn't harmful or toxic because it is made to go on things that Re IN CONTACT with an animal (wraps) so no it's just meant to be mildly uncomfortable (I have gotten it in my own eyes & it is unpleasent but it is not harmful.

I still don't see how that would be even close to necessary. He is NOT attacking her dogs, from the sounds of things he is a young boisterous lab with no manners who wants to play. There are much better ways to handle this situation.

I wouldn't pepper spray, and being a lab, tossing cookies is not going to teach him much other than to come bug you MORE than he does. Plus your own dogs are going to go after the cookies too. Plus how many cookies is he going to eat. Plus.....

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for two set times to be able to get your dogs out for a potty break. If possible I'd look at fencing of some kind too, if it's in the budget or at all something you can rig up. And I don't think being honest and saying 'your dog is pretty pushy with mine, I'd rather they not get to the point they get really annoyed and create issues'. You're not saying 'never let him loose' after all and more than willing to work with the landlord after all.

I don't get the mentality either, drives me nuts.

Yeah, I'd still very ticked if you just sprayed my dog with an irritant without even mentioning to me that the dog was a problem. This dogs behavior doesn't sound like the behavior of an "ill bred" lab, it just sounds like a young, untrained and likely under socialized lab.

I was just concerned because she mentioned that he was hurting her dogs & young boisterous dogs can be harmful. I have had many run ins with hound boisterous labs/retriever types. Again this is NOT a jab at responsible lab / lab mix / retriever mix owners as I have met many who are but I just don't have patience for someone who won't spend the time to train their dog regardless of the breed.

Though, it seems as tying up the dog when you are going for a potty break Im not suggesting to pepper spray I never mentioned pepper spray.
