I'm not doing a home birth but I think that sometimes, the interventions that doctors and OB's insist upon doing as "routine" often cause more trouble than they solve.

My birth plan is to have no birth plan and to go with the flow. Ideally I'd like to be able to give birth with as few medical interventions as possible and without pain medications or an epidural but my body has never been through anything like this and I'm not sure how I will respond.

But I won't ever judge anyone for the decisions they make during their journey

I agree that many interventions cause more problems than they solve.

I'm also surprised the author of that article found a midwife team to do a VBAC at home!

Awww! Don't worry you still have plenty of time for a bump! Everyone's bodies are different and you've had a rough go of it - The baby is still pretty small at this point, just wait until he/she starts putting on the weight

I had that concern at first too when I was trying to decide between hospital and home - but (at least my midwife team) they went through a list of each possible complication and how they are either trained to handle it at home with the same equipment any doctor would use, or how they know well in advance that a hospital transfer is needed (well before it becomes an emergency).

Personally, I am a very private person and I know that in order to relax and let my body do the work, home is the best choice for me. Being in a hospital would put me on edge and increase my chances of needing interventions/drugs to help me along. I just know that is the way my body works. However I am prepared to transfer if necessary, since this is my first time and I do not know how I will handle it. My midwife assured me we can go to the hospital at any time if it becomes too much for me to handle.

That would be awesome! Then I wouldn't have to worry about who's going to take care of my dogs....lol.

So Mu and I had our last weaves class last night, which involved running, which destroyed my hips/pelvis. And this morning Matt informed me (with much glee) that I'm walking like a penguin. I should've kicked him, but I hurt way too bad. Lol.

You described my feelings about home birth precisely. I really don't want to labor/give birth in a hospital.

I feel your pain! A belly band or support belt helps if you are going to be doing much of that in the future!
