Quick question: Do I have to change the photo format before I can upload them? I was taking pictures in manual with the RAW format and when I uploaded the unedited ones, my laptop wouldn't open them. It opened the processed ones just fine. I was actually quite happy with most of them too, now that I finally figured out how to focus while in manual.

No, but you need software capable of executing the RAW filetype. Lightroom, Photoshop, Software that may have come with your camera... Many home laptops do not come equipped with such software.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.5 but it didn't work.. I'll look and see if there was a program that came with it, but I doubt it. I think I saw a few free programs yesterday so I'll try out one of those. Thanks!

Downloaded RawTherapee (which is pretty good for a free program!) and I have to say, I'm super pleased. My first 'official' time shooting completely manual and my first time editing NEF/RAW photos.

Love this thread. I will be coming back when I have camera in hand!
