I can't fathom the idea of jeans that aren't skinny!
The ankle space seriously annoys me lol and looks just horrendous to me with ballet flats or converse or heels.. which is my basic footwear uniform lol Not sure about boots as I do not wear boots. I am short.. no need to make my legs look even shorter by cutting them off with boots lol

I'm very particular about my socks. At the moment they have to be thin ankle socks lol. I don't match them to my outfit - I wear the ones I think are cute lol.
But then again, I am NOT a skinny jeans person. I like my boot cut jeans. I don't mind other people who wear skinny jeans, I just think they look horrible on me  I wouldn't let your friend tell you that white socks shouldn't be worn with skinny jeans. If you think it looks good then that's all that matters

Yeah, count me in to the who cares what color socks..and I think skinny jeans are the weirdest looking cut..even on people who "can" wear them.

I tried on a pair of skinny jeans recently - I wanted some to wear with my boots because it's not very easy to tuck my normal jeans into my boots without that ugly bunching and bulging - and I almost had a panic attack. THEY ARE TOUCHING MY LEGS. WHY IS IT TOUCHING ME. IT'S LIKE MY PANTS ARE GIVING MY LEGS A BEAR HUG AND WON'T QUIT. MAKE IT STOP. GET THEM OFF.
No skinny jeans for me. BUT this may be an issue induced by my tremendous runner & cyclist calf muscles which are abnormally large and thus make even tall socks feel really tight sometimes. >=/

If I'm wearing skinny jeans then I'm wearing my Corral boots. And therefore you cannot see my socks. Therefore I do not pay any attention to what color socks I put on (or if they match at all)
