That guy is such an idiot. I think he is just doing that to get some attention.

P.S. I eat rabbits. I just don't eat ones with names.

Yeah, BG, I'm one of the more avid advocates of sarcasm, and I'm all up for a bit of malice - when it's directed at an appropriate target. People who are just malicious and like to upset others - and take advantage of them - just because they care very much about something I have no use for, except maybe to enjoy the squirming when it gets turned around on them. Like having PETA and the FBI down your back like stray hairs after a haircut.

Now THAT'S funny!

Thanks for reminding me about The Onion; I hadn't been there for awhile. I just got completely burned out from all the political upheavals and swore off of all of it for awhile. I was buying antacids and Aleve in bulk . . .

This is the response the AHA sent me:

Dear Ms. Lee:

Thank you for contacting the American Humane with your concern about the
Save Toby website.

American Humane unalterably opposes all abuse to animals. Studies have
shown that those who perpetrate violence toward animals are often times
the same people that perpetrate violence toward children and other
vulnerable populations. Websites such as this only perpetrates this
cycle of violence.

Fortunately, society has begun to recognize animal abuse as part of the
cycle of violence and is calling for stronger penalties against abusers
and more powerful enforcement capabilities. As a result, 41 states and
the District of Columbia have added felony penalties to their
anti-cruelty laws, and animal cruelty investigators are being given
peace officer status. However while much progress has been made, there
is still much work to be done. Even in those states that have felony
penalties, most of these only pertain to companion animal dogs and cats.
Animals raised for food, like livestock and rabbits often receive
minimal protection under the laws. I encourage you to familiarize
yourself with the laws in your state and across the country. A list can
be found at http://www.api4animals.org/47.htm.

The best thing you can do to stop this website is to do nothing. Please
do not send email, start email or internet petitions, or contact the
person running the site. This only encourages the posting of the site
in additional locations. Additionally, spreading the word about this
site is also causing increased traffic to their web domain, making the
task of removing them more difficult.

American Humane will continue to monitor this site. Most likely it is a
hoax, but remains disturbing all the same. Rest assured that if there is
an action we can take to stop this site, we will act. I hope that this
information has helped in some way. Thank you again for your concern.

Sincerely,

Suzy Mitchell

The key on this one, Emma, is a little thing called "obtaining money under false pretenses." I kind of doubt anyone will pay a lot of attention (although the Powers That Be might decide something like this is a good way to get their hooks into monitoring the internet - in our own best interests, of course, ), but it is kind of fun to think about this joker maybe getting a little contact from the Feds. Unlikely, but an amusing thing to think about . . .
