My family disapproves of my breed choice

It's going to be your dog so definitely get what you want from where you want.

My family thinks my Ibizan is ugly too. They are more into heavier boned breeds and don't quite understand the whole skinny sighthound thing. But you know what... I really wanted one and Joey fit so perfectly so I kept him because my husband and I decided that he would be a good match for us (well mainly for me).

I really really want a Xolo one day and I can only imagine the horrified reaction I'll get from my family when that day eventually comes around. I imagine they might think I'm crazy honestly, but I think they are wonderful so who cares what they think.

I say get what you really want and don't let what anyone else says get to you. You know better than anyone what you feel is a good fit for you and if it's a chinese crested than yayyy!!!! I've actually grown fond of them myself. We have a little powderpuff female named Mia that comes to my work a lot and I just think she has the greatest little personality ever.

I didn't tell them Arson was coming. It was planned. Once I had him I was afraid of reaction. I took him home to Kerri's slimmed him down, worked a little on manners.. and when they met him they fell in love with him. He's cute, but not the prettiest crested out there.

Kerri should chime in here. Sketch breeder had 6 hairless cresties. Kerri was smitten with the ugliest one. 6 pounds or less. Tiny little thing with just a wisp of head hair. Naked tail and all. Kerri would have taken her home. She was bursting with the best personality ever and could have made a wonderful sports dog.. I would have taken her more easily than Arson as all I saw at first was chubby, had a hard time moving and had scruffy hair everywhere.

Thankfully Kerri told me there was a crested in there. He liked food, wanted to follow me..

I didn't plan on another rescue mission of sorts. I was planning to go to a breeder. Happy I took him home, but wouldn't have been unhappy to go to a decent breeder too.

Crestie personalities are unlike any other dog I've met.. You need one. Now

I think we are due for some more Arson pics. unless I missed a recent thread with pics somewhere.

He is pretty sweet. There is a lot of endearing personality that doesn't translate in pics. My dad is actually kinda smitten. Arson crawls onto him to be pet while I stand around to talk to him. He seems to feel he is a year behind in cuddling and chew toys and needs to make up for it ASAP.

Would I go hairless again.. I'm thinking I'd rather go puff. But Arson needed a new life so I don't regret him or his skin. I think I may be madly in love for the future with AHTs.. so his skin issues won't drive me off

Ok this is not helping my Crestie lust. If I went Crestie instead of Poodle for my next dog, I wouldn't have to deal with the docking issue....

ETA: My parents were downright horrified when I adopted my first pit bull. Now they loooooove the pit bulls and mom is like this big outspoken pit bull advocate

(She doesn't like the BCs though. They move too much and they're pointy. She doesn't like pointy.)
