I have a Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS ... and I want to upgrade to something better since it's a piece of crap. Videos look horrible, pictures come out so so. I have my Nikon D40 so don't want to spend a ton, but I want something I can carry in my pocket, take nice videos, and not have to haul out something ginormous.

Here are the specs for the one I have.

Looking to spend under two, eyeing some that are inbetween 100-150 on sale this week. Am I looking for something that has better mega pixels? Better zoom? Help??

It and I don't get along. Everytime indoors I take pictures I can the shadow from the lenses in it, and blown out dogs. I want a better stupid camera.

Though we don't argue with outdoor pictures.
Then go the heck outside and get us pictures!!

:p

My mom uses the first nikon coolpix you showed.

It works well, for a p&s I guess. IDK, I get frustrated I can't change the settings, but a lot of the pictures look great. It's not very good for action shots. So if you're trying to get a lot of pictures of running dogs, I wouldn't recommend it.

Photos of people, even indoor/darker shots, and pictures of sleeping/still pets come out good, though.
