I tore a ligament in my ankle and it took over a year to fully heal and I still don't have full range of motion, but without physio, I probably would never have been able to play sports again.

my guess is on this--stretched ligament=decreased stability. Have it checked out--might be that you need to wear a brace for some time and/or do some exercises to strengthen and stabilize the joint. Depend on how badly stressed the areas is.
