I know you said grain-free, but Fromm has some really good formulas with lower cals/fat. Their Gold line and their Four Star. I'd almost rather see a food with some brown rice and barley than full of peas and potatoes. All formulas are low in ash, meaning most of the protein is coming from meat and high quality meat. But, yeah, I just looovee Fromm and their very reasonably priced. I just bought a 15lb bag of Fromm Classic Senior for my dads overweight dog for $18.99.

Earthborn is also a great deal, and I've heard lots of good things. Their Meadow Feast formula is lower in fat and cals than most. I really like Now! too but it's really expensive from what I've seen.

Is Go & Now more expensive than Acana? I have been looking at the Acana bags and thinking, holy cow!

Here Go! and Now! are WAY more expensive than Acana. They are just a little under Orijen in pricing. There is a reason we sell a ton of Acana and barely any Now!/Go!...! lol

Yeah, Acana can be affordable, definitely. I usually get it shipped for around $50-$60, depending on what sales and coupons I can catch.

Fromm can be expensive, too, though. I'm looking at shipping in Four Star Beef Frittata because Acana is a little hard to find right now. It's just slightly more than what I would typically pay for Acana Pacifica. It's closer to $70 shipped.

Annamaet is almost as expensive as Orijen. Usually around $80 for a 30lb-ish bag.

Solid Gold can be much cheaper, and more available since it's sold at Petco.

Totally blanking at the moment on anything else.

ETA: Wellness Core isn't bad, as someone else said. I think it's closer to $50-$60 depending on where you get it.

Nutrisource grain free you might be able to find for a reasonable price but they run around 500 cals/cup.

Yeah price is a big reason why I've never even contemplated trying Go or Now. Acana has a range of prices - I fed Wild Prairie because I liked the price ($55 for largest bag), but Ranchlands was not going to happen ($70 I think?), for that price I would rather bump up to Orijen. Pacifica isn't too bad. But their singles line is pricey too, I wanted to try the lamb & apple but couldn't spend that much.

I think grain-free Fromm might be more expensive than Acana. They're close, at least, depending on formula.

Where are you all getting your Acana? The cheapest I've ever paid for any of the formulas is 60$ for the big bags. Most of the time, I pay 70$ a bag.

When I fed GO! It was cheaper than Acana and still is actually. Judge just started looking horrible on it so I switched, plus I am a horrible food switcher. LOL

Bailey's done well on Pure Vita, Acana, Fromm, and Earthborn as an elderly dog.

I bought Acana here: http://northwestpets.com/
Its $55 for Prarie Harvest and I think Ranchlands is like $70. Grasslands was like $68 and Pacifica like $62. I mostly fed Pacifica and Grasslands... and they hadn't come out with Ranchlands yet.

My friggin' picky cat's Wellness Core I buy there too. Its like $26 something for a 5lb bag. Spoiled cat!! Boy she is sure packing it away this fall too. Crazy little active punk.

The other cat who is an old lady I gave up and just let her eat the crap my stepdad buys his cat. At least she hunts and yes I worm her! She's actually in really good shape for a 13yr old indoor/outdoor cat who eats whatever cheap kibble is on sale and gets friskies wet every morning.
