Well now that my MIL is staying in the area in an assisted living place, it's a bit hard to invite her over, between the dog and the kids leaving their stuff all over the floor... so we're going to the restaurant, there's a Thanksgiving buffet there. And one of hubby's brothers and his gf are coming over for a couple days. Going to miss the leftover but not having to cook anything is pretty nice.

Just my family here at home. We always make tons of Thanksgiving food, decorate the house for Christmas, and get a newspaper to plan for Black Friday the next day.

I usually make:
Turkey - slathered in mayo and spices and stuffed Stuffing - I don't eat it, but everyone else does. Green beans - in a vinaigrette usually with sliced almonds. No casserole. Carrots and apples with brown sugar glaze Mashed potatoes Sweet potato something - usually with crispy oats on top cornbread and buttermilk biscuits strawberry spinach salad stuffed mushrooms pumpkin pie and chocolate chip cookies Mom makes a ham usually, I think. I might do a zucchini/carrot/squash/potato dish instead of the carrots and apples this year.

We're having friends and family over. As has become our tradition, everyone is welcome to our table. we're expecting anywhere from 6-20 people. I'm making my usual vast quantities of food, especially because Thanksging leftovers are the best thing EVER. I have a wonderfully obese 25 lb turkey already in the freezer. We're having:
-turkey -ham -bread stuffing -cornbread stuffing -homemade Parkerhouse rolls -garlic mashed potatoes -candied sweet potatoes -green bean casserole -jalapeno poppers (jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon) -rice -shrimp and veggie stir-fry. Sounds weird, but it's traditional for my family. -homemade cranberry sauce -pecan pie -pumpkin pie -apple pie -rum cake. I can't wait. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday.

We are having it at home. My brother will be here. He lives 2 hrs. away and maybe my aunt will come over. So it will just be my parents, my brother, and possibly my aunt.
We usually have: *Turkey (duh ;0)) *Candied Sweet Potato Bake. We use real sweet potatoes. We have been using canned yams which are repulsive and the real sweet potatos are GOOD! *Homemade Rolls. *Veggie Tray. Which will probably be: Carrots, Celery with Pimento spread or Cream Cheese, black olives, cauliflower, pickle slices, tomatos, etc. *2 kinds of Stuffing. One is cooked in the turkey, the other is not. *Cranberry Sauce. Jellied and Whole Berry *Mashed Potatos and Gravy For dessert: *Pumpkin Pie *Chocolate Cream Pie *And sometimes apple or cherry pie. We usually have a snack tray while the turkey is cooking. Usually chips and dip, a couple kinds of crackers with cheese and lunch meat or salami. And veggies and ranch.

Well we have been buying canned yams.. and I know why nobody eats it. Not even me. So mushy! Last year my mom bought some real sweet potatos for the sweet potato bake.. and I literally ate what everyone else didn't eat. It was SO good. That's how I found my love for them lol.
