Another dog sport addiction

I'm having the same problem with this as I was the Snipe one, it won't let me watch it for some reason

Pretending to - it's his routine to get the dog revved up *and* cue them to search and where to start all rolled into one.

Ahh, I see. Where is the sound coming from then? Is he hitting the top of the bucket with his hand?

Yea - he shakes the food tube, pops it under his arm, and smacks the first container as the cue to start - you can see it more clearly in Snipe's vid.

do dogs have to be good with other people for nosework?

i think it depends on what you mean by 'good with people'. Shy dog or aggressive dog would make a difference. it certainly helps in any sport to have a confident dog. my classes, though, Mia rarely comes into contact with the other people but we're a little more lax with her than we would be with a reactive dog. And the dogs never come into contact with each other either. When one is out working, the others are crated.

On the flip side, I think that sports help with under confident dogs.

No, the trials actually have bandanas for dogs that need space. The dog must be safe with a judge in the area but does not need to tolerate as much pressure as other sports ask.
