Default Struggling!

Buzz is struggling with allergies. I will attempt another elimination diet with him as soon as I get to Woody's to stock up on duck but... in all reality, I cannot afford to feed him just duck. He eats about a pound and a half a day now and it is $20/5# at the cheapest/best place I can get it.

I asked my vet about trying Atopica generic, Cyclosporine but waahhhh! That stuff is expensive, too!

I just don't know what to do with him!

I feel your pain, Kiley has had such bad allergies this year Our vet wanted us to try diet change first before doing an allergy shot, so far her hot spots are clearing up, so we are hoping! The fleas have been awful here this year as well and that doesn't help, if we are one day off of treating for fleas she's itching like crazy

Ugh I feel you! I am just starting the process of trying to figure out Juno's allergens... at this point don't even know if it's food related. But I am already freaking out about what if there is no kibble she does well on? I'd want to try raw then but she would eat a pound a day so Woodys would probably really hurt the bank account. Her only saving grace is that IF she has food allergies, I really don't think it's to any certain meat source.

The Richards Organics skin spray has been a super awesome band-aid, but my goal is definitely to not need it. But while I sort out this complicated mess, at least her skin looks good now and she's not feeling the need to itch herself raw.

Have you tried all of the typical environmental stuff? Extra antioxidants and fish oil? Is he on raw now (and is that any more affordable than duck)?

Maybe something in here will help? (There's an allergies heading and a "skin problems" heading.) http://dogaware.com/k9nfaq.html

Poor guy.
