What get's me about the letter from Saleena's mom, is that she said she use to raise American Pit Bull terriers and has had over 51 dogs over the years. I'm assuming none of them ever went mean if she had so many of them in her home for so long. 51 plus dogs, and one, years later, attacks. That should tell you something.

I don't think it's wrong to have a walk for "dog attack victims". Sometimes i do feel like the focus goes onto defending the dog ("he was spooked! Provoked! Protecting xyz!") more than the victim, so i guess thats a walk-worthy cause... But to specifically call out pit bulls? I wish they could get their point across without discriminating. I'd like to see what kind of pro-pit bull turnout they might get. Maybe it will start a riot!

And a fence that dogs could maul someone through doesn't sound adequate for those dogs. If I had a dog that territorial I'd have a very strong, tall, solid fence. I'd also go out of the way to forge a friendship between the neighbor kids and dog, for the protection of both. The zois are about as un-territorial as it can get, but you never know. The kids in the neighborhood all know them and have been introduced. The dogs love them. They look weird so there's always a temptation to mess with them or tease them. This way my dogs don't get teased and nobody gets bit and my dogs don't become reactive. |

I guess my coworker who needed two surgeries after a Cocker Spaniel bit her several times in the face. After all Cocker Spaniels aren't "Dangerous Dogs," right? |

This sounds like one of the crazy Craven Desires minions. That blog is nuts. Somehow I came onto their radar and one commenter said that I should be killed as well as my dogs and my body set on fire. Seriously nutso.

If this group REALLY wants to help victims of dog bites (I say this as someone who had 20 some stitches after being biten in the face as a kid and still bares the scars), then education of adults, kids, and dog owners as well as across the board animal control laws that punish people who let their dogs run loose, etc, is a far better way to do so. But I suppose effectiveness may not be what they are actually going for here...
