So, I know this diet isn't new for most folks, but they've just brought Canine Caviar up to Canada, exclusive to our franchise. The bossman and I went to Kingston for a seminar on it today, and it's pretty incredible.
(Their web design and overuse of Papyrus font infuriates me, but designers don't make dog food or vice versa...) http://mycaninecaviar.com/ It's big draw is the fact that it's an alkaline diet designed to bring a dog's overall body pH to 7.0-7.5 (closer to 6.8 in cats) for ideal function, not to mention that keeping a pH of around 7.4 can reduce the risk of cancers (created a well-oxygenated blood environment which kills cancer cells, and makes the remaining cancer cells dormant, so they don't multiply). Keeping an ideal pH level in cats keeps urinary issues away too, so this is like a holistic version of Urinary S/O. Aside from that spiel, the food itself is simple and I love the straightforward ingredient panels. The guy had an entire book of why each ingredient is in the food and where it comes from, and was extremely knowledgable on the food. Thought it was a pretty innovative food line and wanted to share, discuss, whatever.

I guess I don't fully understand the pH thing. A normal pH for a dog (arterial blood) is 7.32-7.42, so that's quite within the range this dog food claims is healthy. Through homeostasis, your body wants to maintain a certain pH to keep everything functioning normally, and will do it pretty much regardless of the food you eat. That part seriously sounds like a gimmick to me.

I've been Googling and poking around for a few days now, and there are definitely mixed reviews on the whole thing. I do like the diet as a whole though, alkaline or not. The ingredients and analyses are really good for the price tag. |

I luffs them. It is literally the only kibble Buzz can eat. Literally...
Also, I just love them and recommend the company to anyone able to afford it!
