Default Loft bed advice pls?

So I finally got my loft bed. Its nice to have room in my room again. But there is one issue, its so wobbly! I got it from Walmart cause I can't afford anything expensive and I didn't have any luck looking on CL. The weight limit on it is 225lbs, which my friends assure me is enough to hold my 168lbs plus my mattress and stuff, and that I need to "chill" and "get used to it" because I have issues with change at times. But last night, my first night using it, every tiny movement of my body (every tiny movement of anything!) made the bed move and it would jerk me awake. I ended up dragging my foam mattress pad off the bed and sleeping on the floor because I couldn't take it any more!

Are there any ways to stabilize a metal loft bed so it will stop being so wobbly? We rent so I'm not allowed to anchor it to the wall.

What about cross bracing it with ratchet straps or something? No idea how that would work on metal, but it seems like cross bracing would be helpful in some form.

Unfortunately, I think you're in a "you get what you pay for" situation. You bought the bed because it was cheaper, but it's cheaper for a reason.

My daughter's junior loft bed is heavy as sin and doesn't move, creak or other even when I climb on it.

check your joints - sometimes they loosen in the path of building those suckers. Mine was cheap... but it certainly wasn't a swayer.

Does it have 2" or 3" tubes?

One other thing - is your floor level? If it's not sitting square and level, that could enhance any looseness issues you're having.

Excellent point, Eddie! It might serve the purpose to get a piece of fairly substantial floor padding, something with a little (very little) give to it, and put it under the legs.

Get some metal strapping and screw it into wall studs.
