The Thing About Puppies
Everything take twice as long with a puppy.
So it's been a while since I had a puppy. The first time I was in a 1 bedroom apartment (3rd floor). The second time I was in a rental house on a postage stamp with a fenced yard. This time I'm on "acreage" with lots of projects and some small livestock so I actually have morning chores beyond take care of the dogs and make myself presentable for work. My morning routine has gone from 45 minutes (3 dogs, 1 cat) to one hour (+rabbits and quail) to two hours (+one puppy). Just makes me laugh. It'll get better as she learns the routines and once I don't have to wake up in the middle of the night for a puppy potty break. But it was a little bit of a shock this morning!

They sure do take a lot of our energy and time, but they're so dang appealing all at the same time. And that waking up in the middle of the night....ugggg. It's terrible. And you're right...once they get into the routine and you get into the new routine, things always seem to level out. I can see how you must be super busy though, with all the additional chores. Hang in there.

"Ok puppy I have to go... awwwww you're so cute... but really I have to go! Noooo.. sooooo adorable... just a few scritches.... no no its time to go... awwwww.. no! Awwwwww! No! D'awwwww..." Factor.

The past three nights I've been up every 2 hours with my adults who're dealing with a diet change. I do not like this lack of sleep, I do not want a puppy.

This reminds me of when the Poodles were puppies, and the fence wasn't complete. So I had to (in the mudroom) hook the schnauzers up to their drag lines to potty in the yard, scoop up the poodles in my arms, open the door, usher the schnauzers out, and deposit the poodles into an xpen. Multitasking FTW!
