Default Anybody Know Some Simple Dog Tricks that Dogs Seem To Like?

Okay, guys. I just thought I'd throw this question out there. I have a little dog and she's pretty set in her ways. However, I notice that she is willing to learn new tricks for rewards. She's a little mean and protective, which I can't help but love. She loves who I love and if someone makes me uncomfortable for any reason, she hates them until I tell her otherwise. Though she's mean, she's so little that it's harmless and most people think that it's just cute. But my son and her are really my only true best friends in this life so far, I love them both so much.

I think it would be cute for her to learn some fun tricks, but I don't want her to feel a lot of pressure to perform or anything. I just thought it would be fun for us. She also loves to get approval and especially with a child around, I like to create excuses to reward her.

Based on doggies that you've had, what are the easiest tricks for them to learn that are both fun for you and fun for them to learn?

Fun for the dog and practical: hand touches.

Fun for the dog and fun to watch: paw, spin, speak... Or you can try capturing something that the dog does already: for instance, my Chihuahua will sneeze on cue, and she loves it.

Search youtube for plenty of good how-to videos for any tricks you want to teach.

Both dogs I've trained loved spin.

Tucker's favorite is bow, he also really likes high five.

He keeps offering heel as well but I think it's just because it's the most recent thing I taught him, because if I ASK him to heel he sneezes a few times before doing it which is something he does when frustrated.

Anything you can capture is probably going to be a big hit, that's why i think tucker likes bow. He tends to stretch a lot so all i did was mark and reward when I caught him stretching with his butt in the air and arms out and in no time he was repeating it, now he loves it.

Tucker's least favorite by far is roll over.

and for my public service announcement...if by "mean" you are saying your dog is aggressive I strongly suggest you work with your dog on the aggressive behavior. A dog who is putting on an aggressive display is very scared and certainly not happy at that time, so if you can help her to feel better about people she doesn't know it will be a lot better for her and for everyone else. If she simply wants nothing to do with them then that's not a big deal, but aggression is not something to laugh at.

Yoshi loves 'pound it' where you hold your fist out and she'll hit it with her paw.

Only downside is 'pound it' turns into a punch if you aren't ready for it.

Moose loves "pow" (play dead) so much that he can't stop wagging his tail. He usually does a very dramatic death that requires many "bullets" and lots of circling as well. Silly boy

Default These Tricks are Perfect!

CrazyDogLady, that is so cute. He loves it so much he wags his tail and he's supposed to be playing dead. Aww shucks, I can just picture it. Dogs are just so adorable. So, so cute. These are such simple, cute tricks and at the same time, they will make her feel proud of herself, like she's done something awesome. Spin and pound it will be perfect. I think the paw/pound is easy to start. Thank you, guys.
