Default Science Diet seminar today!!!!!! Forced enthusiasm!!!!!

Can you tell how excited I am.

I'm now in charge of educational seminars for both of our stores, and our SD rep has been BEGGING me for a slot. So I gave her one.

Sales rep, meet pit of wolves.

My co-workers have pretty much the same views on food and nutrition as the majority of us on Chaz do. This should be fun.

Anyone got some good questions? One of my big ones will be the retort to corn being the most digestible lutein source (which is one of their favorite "why corn?" retorts). It isn't. Kale/spinach is, with dandelion leaves a close second, with more then 20 times the mcg of lutein per 100g. both are used in high-end kibble diets (Champion, Fromm, etc) as well as in many premade raw brands with incredible results.

Not to mention that animal fat is one of the most ideal sources of lutein, which is why animal fat should be high-ish on most good pet foods.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lutein#In_nutrition

I also want to address their new Ideal Balance line, and how entering the grain free market is making customers question the quality of their original line even more.

I still think it's hiLARious that we had a lunch and learn about how bad grain free diets are, and then a couple months later, SURPRISE! Science Diet has its own grain free food. "Well, that's what the consumer thinks she wants."

It was kind of hilarious.

She started off okay, powerpoint presentation, explanations, whatever... then opened the floor to questions.

So the four of us started with questions.

But then it sort of wound up this open discussion between us and her, in which we looked at the Ideal Balance ingredients, told her why a lot of the ingredients still suck, and compared them directly to some of the 5lb bags in our store (the seminar was at the store so we had easy access).

In the end, she wound up learning a lot from us. She was kinda blown away, and we were amused that we spent two hours of paid time teaching a rep instead of the other way around.

Moral of the story: Ideal Balance still sucks.

I wish we had your rep then, when I was forced to go to the seminar the woman eventually just refused to let me ask questions after I stumped her a couple times
