Default Rats are too smart

So, I have come to the conclusion that rats are too smart for their own good.

Last night I was woken up FIVE times by a certain Bees. And by woken up, I mean rat-walking-across-my-face-at-two-in-the-morning kind of woken up. She's gotten out before, but when she does she normally either makes the trash can her new home or hides under the couch. Not this time. She decided to walk to the clear other end of the apartment, the furthest from her cage, just to climb up onto the bed and say hi. Five times. I finally had to throw her in a storage bin just so we could get some sleep. (Don't worry, she had air holes - it was a modified bin.)

Why does she have to be so smart? Why does she not only have to figure out how to get out of the cage, but then to get off of the table as well? And then to come find the people who feed her peanut butter?

Stupid rat.

Needless to say, first thing on the agenda tomorrow is to put chicken wire around the cage. LOL

LOL

When I was probably 10 or so, I had a hamster put enough stuffing in a cage attachment, so that the attachment appeared to be closed, but if she banged it enough she could get out and it still looked closed.

Definitely woke up one night with a hamster RIGHT AT MY FACE. Scream for my mom, hamster then runs back into cage and my mom says I'm dreaming. THREE TIMES THIS HAPPENED. I finally went to the cage and found the attachment was not, in fact, closed all the way.

HA! omg that would so scare the crap out of me. Not really that the rats got loose.... just the "oh dear God in heaven WHAT is crawling on me!!" moment of panic I would have. My reflexes would have made me smack said rat, out of fear that it could have been a giant mutant spider.

Would have scared me crapless if one of my girls ran across my face while I was sleeping. Holy scary batman.

When Frodo was asleep with his head near my leg an I was reading about camel spiders, he twitched his ear and it brushed against my leg. I totally smacked him in the head involuntarily because obviously it was a camel spider!!! I felt way bad

Also, be careful with peanut butter, it can be a major choking hazard. Try mixing it with water if you dont already to keep it from being so sticky

It didn't even spook me, to be honest. Reminded me of having a ferret decide tunneling up your pajama pants would be fun when you thought you had locked them securely in their cage for the night.

She woke Mike up first by crawling up the middle of the bed. He jumped, then said, "What the...?", picked her up, and gave me a look like, "It is your fault these rats are here." All consecutive times were directly on my side of the bed - once with the face, then I'd get whiskers tickling my legs and little paws climbing over me. Didn't scare me, I was just annoyed.

We normally just put a little dab on our finger and let them lick it off - and it is nasty, cheap peanut butter that isn't even sticky, just sort of...play-doughy. LOL But I didn't even think of that, and I'll be sure to make sure they don't get the good Jiff kind!
